I haven't updated my blog for nearly two months. During this time, I experienced life changes such as moving and getting married, and I also got lazy and didn't produce any content.
Moving#
We moved from a place that was a 10-minute drive from the company to a house that takes an hour and a half by subway to reach the company. Although this commuting time is nothing in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, it is still relatively rare in Chengdu. At first, it may be a bit uncomfortable, such as needing to wake up an hour earlier, but our home is only 500 meters away from the subway station, so we don't need to walk far. To wake up early, we go to bed one hour earlier than before, which can be considered as a way to regulate our lives.
At first, my wife didn't want to wake up and go to work in the morning either. Later, we thought that spending three hours on the subway watching some fast food content was not very meaningful, so we started reading books together on our phones. Recently, we read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" together. The content of this book is somewhat radical and needs to be read dialectically. The main point of the book is to cultivate personal financial intelligence, to be good at actively thinking about how to make money work for oneself, and to discover ways to make money in life. I have never thought about these things before, and all my financial knowledge comes from my family. My family education taught me that saving is the only way to manage finances, although this method has been the habit of my ancestors for generations. However, someone told me that the fastest way to become poor now is to invest, and the book suggests investing in your brain, letting your brain tell you how to achieve high returns. To make a confident investment, you put money in and then pray for returns, which is gambling.
My wife and I have finished reading several books during most of our time on the subway. We also discuss the content of the books during our evening walks after dinner, discussing which statements are acceptable, which ones have problems, and which theories can be applied to our lives. We enjoy it.
Of course, there are also some work-related issues. I found that the most important thing I learned from the books is to have a good mindset no matter what kind of life you face. The company recently released its financial report for the first half of the year, which showed a terrible loss, and the situation of the employees is not good either. Everyone has started tightening their belts to get by. But opportunities often arise in such situations. Working anywhere is just working for someone else, so it's better to figure out how to use your existing abilities to create wealth for yourself. Thinking about these things, I feel like Ah Q every day, but not entirely. I feel that the bitter life now has some flavor.
Getting Married#
I got married. More than ten years ago, I never thought this topic would happen to me, but now it has.
We went to register on our second anniversary together. We didn't eat much that day, and it was already 4 pm when we finished queuing, so we had to replenish our energy. We registered at Hejiangting, which is a popular place for couples to register according to a certain book because there is a place inside specifically for taking photos of the newlyweds.
Regarding the upcoming wedding ceremony, we are proceeding step by step. The date is set for the Tuesday before National Day, which makes it difficult for my friends to find time to come home and attend. We can only hope to see each other again during the Chinese New Year.
Plans#
We will be in a financially difficult period for a long time, but often opportunities are hidden within it. In the future, I want to read some economic data, understand how the economy operates, and continue to be in a learning state to provide a theoretical foundation for the future.
